About Us
First making snow skis in 2011 during high school, James has been perfecting the art of making skis ever since. Year after year, prototype after prototypes have finally lead to a refined manufacturing process and designs that hold up under all conditions.
The aim of Great Divide Skis is to provide skier from all over the world with skis that take them all over the world. As these are manufactured in Australia, we know how much the world has to offer with snow and as Australians, we want skis that can take us there.
Great Divide Skis Timeline
- 2011 - First idea for creating a take you anywhere ski.
- 2011 - First prototype build as part of a final year school project.
- 2013 - Second prototype refining the core to make a natural flex pattern.
- 2015 - Third prototype refining the sidecut shape.
- 2017 - Fourth prototype changing composite materials.
- 2020 - Fifth prototype testing a prototype press.
- 2023 - Sixth prototype using new press and new mould. Including a new core profiler.
- 2024 - Seventh prototype using new materials and carbon fibre.
- 2025 - Eighth prototype combining all lessons learnt along with replacing the carbon with basalt.
- 2025 - First V1 ski. Our first production ready ski and shape.
